Title: Direct trains - a security risk?

A woman who claimed direct trains from London to Grimsby would enourage 'terrorists' to visit the town has prompted a hilarious reaction on Twitter.

Her comment followed reports that the seaside town - and neighbouring resort Cleethorpes - could see its first direct link to London in almost 30 years.

The Grimsby local wrote: 'Don't think you will be saying it's good when terrorists from London get on a train and come to Grimsby. Bad idea my opinion.'

Does the introduction of a through service from London up the security requirements at towns along the new route?

I recently travelled on a direct train from London to Grimsby and Cleethorpes, via part of the complex at Immingham.  I don't think that we posed any sort of terrorist risk, although theymay have been travelling in standard class  :D ;D

Eurostar are enthusiastic about this new market. However, on the return leg, passengers will need to disembark to go through security at Barnetby.

No doubt there are some in London who see direct trains from Grimsby as a security risk...

After a 30-year hiatus, a wave of hopeful whispers is sweeping through Lincolnshire as the Cleethorpes to London direct train line teeters on the brink of a comeback.

Once the heartbeat of North East Lincolnshire’s connection to the capital, the route was axed back in 1992, leaving a void in the community’s fabric. But now, with relentless campaigning and the backing of local MPs, the dream of relighting this dormant track is closer than ever.
