Title: Denial of travel
Post by: martyjon on April 25, 2020, 18:36:09
I am posting this at the request of an acquaintance who does not wish to be publicly identified.

In recent days a non white handicapped female of an ethnic minority was denied rail travel in Bristol from Temple Meads to Lawrence Hill.

The individual lives in the Totterdown district and set out on foot from her residence to travel to Lawrence Hill to food shop at the Lidl supermarket adjacent to the Lawrence Hill station where she had arranged to meet her carer who resides in the Barton Hill area.

She was advised to use the bus for her journey instead.

I don't know if her denial of travel was made by a member of staff from GWR or a constable from BTP but if any member of GWR management or officer from BTP reads this post and would like to DM me contact details I will pass these to my acquaintance so that he can take the matter further if he wishes although he has advised me that he has referred the incident to Transport Focus.

Stupid question - but are you sure the "use the bus not the train" wasn't suggested with the best of intent but misunderstood? There's a gap from 09:11 to 13:11, then to 15:11, in trains on that journey at present.
