Title: HST Short Platform Changeover (18/05/2008)
Post by: Lee on April 06, 2008, 05:01:52
The big day for the changeover to stopping all HSTs with standard class coaches on short platforms will be Sunday, May 18, the start of the summer timetable, according to Mike Carroll, the FGW London and Thames Valley route director, at Friday's meeting in Charlbury.

Why can't this be done now? Half the trains do at the moment, proving it can be done!

Cycle policy needs changing, and many stations (westbury p3 for eg) could not accommodate standard class fully unless the signal is off!

The main reason is that not all traincrew have been trained. So far, trains have stopped with standard carriages platformed when operated by qualified staff. As their duties are not always the same this has caused confusion. FGW is now waiting until all traincrew are trained before implementing the change to operating practice in May.
