Title: Face nappies and traveling on trains Post by: Electric train on June 01, 2020, 14:30:51 Today for the first time since mid March I made a journey into central London and out to SE London :o
Equipped with a face nappy ............ errr I mean disposable surgical face mask and alcohol hand gel I caught the 06:23 from Maidenhead to Padd a 12 car train plenty of seats and at a social distance too. GWR do not seem to be recommending the wearing of face nappies Onto the Bakerloo line, not many people on the train social distancing a little more challenging but even so the train was no where near even busy, TfL do however recommend the wearing of face nappies on their services, also at the entry and exit ticket barriers there are had gel dispensers. I must admit apart from feeling at first like a wally wearing a face mask after a while it just felt the there right thing to do, certainly while others were on a platform or sitting close. The current version on line has: Quote Consider others maintain social distancing, with fellow passengers, staff and the British Transport Police follow staff advice and signs at stations and on our trains spread yourselves out along the platforms as much as possible wear a mask or face covering if you can stay on the platform until people get off the train, and keep the vestibules free Stay safe use contactless to pay wherever you can use hand sanitiser and wash your hands regularly bring your own food and drink, as we have no catering on our trains So, can you wear a mask while you consume your packed lunch? Presumably for that time you can't. Which might be more of an issue on longer trips on SNCF or airlines where the use of masks is madatory, and part of the justificaion for putting someone else in the seat next to you. Its just everywhere on the Tube there are signs saying wear face covering; GWR are not unique in not displaying signs saying to wear face coverings SE Trains were the same. My railway employer has stated its manditory for us as employees to wear face coverings when we travel on trains whether for work travel or commuting.
