Title: Creation of new jobs in Border Force
Post by: grahame on July 12, 2020, 05:41:59
In amongst the gloom of so many international travel jobs bing lost from airlines and airports (and many will argue that the greening effect of less flying is welcome), here's an article from  The BBC (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-53375713) which hails the creation of 500 new jobs to help the UK seize new opportunities.

A £705m funding package to boost infrastructure and recruit more staff on Britain's border has been announced as the UK prepares to leave the EU customs union at the end of the year.

Plans include new border control posts and 500 extra Border Force staff.

Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove said the move would help the UK "seize the opportunities" post-Brexit.

Personally, I would rather those opportunities were not available through us taking a very different path which didn't require / need / justify them.
