Title: Lostwithiel to Brighton routing
Post by: Kernow Otter on August 18, 2020, 20:22:24
One and all

Am just starting to research options for getting from Lostwithiel to Brighton and Back for a concert in February, for 1 adult and 1 child.  So far the only route offered is into London and back out to brighton.

Any pointers as to what route I should be looking for please ?

Cheers all

Very brief play ... looks like a split ticket job.

I put in "via Southampton" and it barfed ... Lostwithiel to Southampton Central and Southampton Central to Brighton looks sensible.  How many changes do you like / want?  Route either via Taunton and Westbury, or via Axminster with changes at Exeter, Salisbury and Southampton.    Don't know what timetables will be like by February ... a Lostwithiel to Westbury connecting into a Westbury to Brighton would be too flukey lucky.

As I write, I start wondering about changes at Reading and Gatwick Airport ...

Via Westbury and Southampton is a valid route with just one ticket @ £84.80 with a Family and Friends railcard, but you won't be able to book that far ahead just yet.

You may get it cheaper with split tickets

Assuming the North Downs line is back running to Gatwick. Currently one train an hour to Redhill and then another change to get to Brighton, in my experience in the last fortnight.
