Images released after member of railway staff attacked ? Wiltshere

Do you recognise this man?

Officers investigating an incident at Bradford-on-Avon railway station are today releasing CCTV images in connection.

Just before 10.30pm on Friday 9 September, a group were drinking alcohol on-board a service travelling between Westbury and Bradford-on-Avon. During the journey a train guard walked through the train and one of the men from the group verbally abused him.

When the service arrived at Bradford-on-Avon station, the same man threw a glass bottle at the train guard. Thankfully, it narrowly missed him and smashed on the side of the train.

Officers believe the man in the CCTV images may have information which could help the investigation.

That's asking for information about an event over two months ago ... although people may recognise the person in the pictures, it does strike me that the trail may have gone rather cold - I certainly can't remember what I was doing and where I was ten weeks ago.   Certainly long enough to proofread their headline - "Wiltshere" indeed!

Please visit the BTP website (direct link above) to see the actual picture.  In the past, we have shared images as requested at the base of the BTP article, but then been asked demanded to pull them at very short notice when the person in question has started to help the police; I will not put the forum into risk of such threats from the BTP again in any attempt to help them even if they ask.

I can understand why the police ask for that. Once the purpose of the publicity has been achieved, ie, the person sought has been found, further circulation could be said to be prejudicial to a defendant in any subsequent legal action. Straws can be clutched at if nothing else works. Your solution is wise.
