Title: History - Gosport
Post by: CyclingSid on December 29, 2020, 09:22:21
I have been looking through the Gosport Railway Society site http://grsupdate40.blogspot.com/ (http://grsupdate40.blogspot.com/)

Intrigued by this photo http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bf19gXtBaHc/WEH0u13XhLI/AAAAAAAAIvs/KRek5RVV7Dg_VPFFMOHcsz6wU3k2trulACK4B/s1600/fareham.jpg (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bf19gXtBaHc/WEH0u13XhLI/AAAAAAAAIvs/KRek5RVV7Dg_VPFFMOHcsz6wU3k2trulACK4B/s1600/fareham.jpg)
when did third rail get to Fareham.
Also this made me smile http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xxMTOV174eg/WD4EAbAFZ6I/AAAAAAAAIgo/2Qvc4ssSRTETB9iLfJwkxFF92TNFBVLmACK4B/s1600/loop.jpg (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xxMTOV174eg/WD4EAbAFZ6I/AAAAAAAAIgo/2Qvc4ssSRTETB9iLfJwkxFF92TNFBVLmACK4B/s1600/loop.jpg)
shortest passing loop, or all you need to get round a shopping trolley.

and also you will find a timetable for a direct service from Weymouth to Gosport.

when did third rail get to Fareham.

Very late indeed compared to other electrification schemes ...

Edit to add - May 1990 from Eastleigh and pretty much the same time (personal recollection) from St Denys through to Hilsea / Bedhampton
