Title: Marylebone rail workers 'held lockdown baby shower' at closed station patisserie
Post by: eXPassenger on January 19, 2021, 17:17:46

In November, during lockdown, station staff at Marylebone held a non socially distanced baby shower.  How stupid can you get?

It's rare I say this, but words fail me.

Presuming that the reports are accurate, and I strongly suspect that the reports ARE broadly accurate, then this is very shocking.
Prosecution should be considered IMHO.

It always amazes me that people record their foolish actions and then post stuff on social media, leading to their being identified and penalised. (Like the brain-dead man who parked his car on a level crossing.)

The Mail Online (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9166913/Covid-outbreak-Chiltern-Railways-staff-baby-shower.html) is carrying a report which adds to the story ...

Quote
A member of station staff is understood to have had keys to the Patisserie Valerie for 'security reasons' - but did not tell the chain that its outlet was being used.

Noting "is understood to" in that story ...

The initially reported incident could be considered pretty serious but I have a suspicion that it would be trumped by https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-55730459 (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-55730459)

Oddly there is no mention of any punishment meted out to the venue concerned who quite clearly should have asked* the officers to 'disappear'.

*And called the police if they declined to so do.  ;D

As I read it, the venue / organisation is said to have been in lockdown with none of their staff around or knowing what was going on. Landlord's agents let themselves in and used it?   If I have read that right, and barring lack of care to secure the place by the venue, there's nothing I can see that they could have done wrong.

I think Bob is referring to the incident in the link he provided, not the one at Marylebone.

Ah - OK - my bad.   Makes sense.

A significant number of police officers seem to take the view that "we make the rules, they dont apply to us" The law is meant to be made by parliament, but a lot of police seem to think that THEY make it.

BTW, it might be worth splitting this thread as two significant and different incidents are being disscussed.
