Title: Replies to posts
Post by: froome on March 13, 2021, 18:46:49
Is there a way to be notified if someone posts a reply to one of your posts?

I'm on another forum where, when I enter it, I get a notification of any posts that specifically reply to one of my posts. I find it frustrating that this forum does not seem to have the same function.

If you post a question in a thread, you can easily lose sight of it if you don't log in frequently, or forget which thread it is in. In those cases, you may never know that someone has replied to your post.

You can click on the 'notify' button to get notifications of further posts in any thread...which would include answers to any posted question in same thread

Thanks, that's useful to know. It isn't quite what I was hoping for, though. It's quite easy to forget what thread you have posted in, especially if you haven't logged in for a while (I've just been off-line for a couple of days), and also when a discussion where you have posted is one which has gone off topic, so that it isn't obvious where to find a post.

Having a notification which specifically says a reply has been posted to a post you've made would, in my view, be even more helpful.

If you click on notify at the same time as posting, it will know to advise you of further replies

I have found "show unread posts since last visit" quite sufficent if you visit the site once a day
