I now live in the Triangle area between Taunton, Swindon and Bristol. I'd never been on a Train till I met my (now) partner in 2010, he is quite a rail fan on all things on steel wheels!
I had my first train ride from Bath to London in September 2010 and the speed scared the hell out of me, I've got accustomed to 125 mph and 185 mph on Eurostar since. Sorry I can't say much more, but it's my partner who is the Modern Day Slave. Will explain more on another input. Anyway. We dont just deal with steel wheels here, also rubber ones, ruber ones which fly and objects that float too. It is a little mind blowing to go on a land vehicle that goes 100 mph faster than the top motorway speed I agree. I look forward to that further explanation. The feeling of speed in a train makes an interesting study ... I believe that it the very early days of trains around 190 years ago, there was concern at the medical effect of travelling at over the speed of a galloping horse. I suffer a lot of joint problems and from previous experiences I check things work before spending a lot of time on Emails etc.
