Modern Railways are reporting that former GWR deputy MD (and Interim MD during Mark Hopwood’s secondment to SWR) Matthew Golton has been appointed MD at TransPennine Express.  He took up the post on June 1st.

Within FirstGroup, yup.

He left TPE after the Government 'nationalised' it.

Yes, but note that was a post made 2 years ago and much has moved on with TPE since then,

Anyone know where he went after TPE?

Yes, I believe so.  I would suspect this thread will bounce back to life at some point; hope so.

So good to see you, Matthew, at Westbury on 8th.  "Don't know where, don't know when - but I know we'll meet again some sunny day."  Rail is presently somewhat at the eye of a storm, and time will tell how it comes out of that storm. But I do know there are many good people out there who wish to see a "better" system - and that is better for the environment, the people who provide it, and most importantly for the people who use it.
