Is their any point considering we already have a National scheme

I don't think it's a railcard - just a special offer.  And it's composite you - if you are old enough - can take advantage of both at the same time:

It’s time to discover the world again, and there’s no better way to make some new unforgettable memories than with our new Senior Savers Club, exclusively for those age 60 and over. Designed to help you get out there and really enjoy all life has to offer, travelling with confidence – to everything from weekends away by the coast to a day out in the city with the grandchildren. Book from 20 September for travel from 18 to 31 October to save more than 30% on train tickets – and save an additional third when you use your Senior Railcard!

I'm not sure if the discounts are added together or taken one after the other - whether a fare of (say) £40 reduced to £26.40 and then to £18.50, or if there's a 64% reduction applied, giving a fare of £14.40.

It's further down the page:

"Can I use a railcard in the Senior Savers Club?
Yes – you can save an additional 34% with a Senior Railcard."

Not dissimilar to the Club 55 scheme operated by some operators in years past

You couldn’t get a senior railcard discount on Club 55 though, so this offer is about as good as you’ll get. Heading for the Isle of Wight, but unfortunately this offer expires the day before.

Indeed ... but as has been said on the follow up, you can get discounts on discounts with this one.

Is it just me, or does "Club 55" make you think of a Deltic enthusiast's group?

Apparently not available on stations west of Yeovil Junction - although no mention in the T&Cs ( just 'available on selected journeys')

I've just checked Honiton - Waterloo for 25 October and it is coming up with the promotional fare £54.25 Off Peak return.

Indeed. I had not got around to posting that a restriction code that had existed on previous promotions had been applied incorrectly and was corrected almost as soon as I got in touch.
