Title: Our disruption maps
Post by: grahame on December 12, 2021, 09:16:43
Here is our disruption map - default settings:

Here is the same piece of code with SWR data fed into it:

There is no easy similar data feed that I've found to easily do the same thing for Cross Country or Transport for Wales - data is almost certainly available but in different formats.

Note that there are some "issues" at the moment - Okehampton (GWR) and Dorking (SWR) shown off the Scillies, and some trains that are making ADDITIONAL stops are actually showing as CANCELLED because the reason for the extra stop given by the people who write text is "making an additional stop because another train was cancelled"

Current maps:

http://new.passenger.chat/map/swrmap.php?settings=AAAAAAAAAA

Note massive flexibility in the maps ...

Leave it as GWR - it'll get too "busy" otherwise, there's plenty of content there already and GWR seem to be successfully providing more, especially at weekends!!!

I selected 'don't care' as the nearest option to my view. I wouldn't have chosen those words though! I can see that these maps provide an instant snapshot of the network, but I tend to be more interested in details of specific trains (i.e. the ones I'm booked to travel on!)

I've also selected "Don't care" - meaning "I don't mind - the choice is yours"

I am interested in SWR's Exeter-Salisbury-Waterloo route, but if you do include that you will inevitably have delays/cancellations/short runs on a daily basis given that SERUG has identified that you will have an 80% chance of severe delay if using that route! Hence, it probably isn't worth reporting.

Am I being dim, (or has my brain been fried by trying to solve "B" in today's Advent Quiz?) - I cannot see any voting buttons?

Same here - I was about to vote in this, but all I got was the results. How do I cast my vote?

My fingerpoken has gone kaput.   I locked it by mistake - sorry - unlocked now

Disruption maps - are they OK as is, or should I change them?
(Voting closed: December 19, 2021, 09:16:43 am)

Leave it alone - GWR only   - 15 (65.2%)
Switch to SWR only   - 0 (0%)
Put both on one diagram   - 1 (4.3%)
Use the space on the page for something else   - 1 (4.3%)
Something else (please write in)   - 0 (0%)
Don't know   - 2 (8.7%)
Don't care   - 4 (17.4%)

Very clear - "ain't bust - don't fix".  I will - when I have a chance - update data to that new stations show properly, and that some colouring / flagging errors are corrected.

Not had one for a while but we seem to have a line heading off the map towards the Isles of Scilly.  Can't immediately see what it is supposed to be.

Wondered that mesself, and nothing showing on journeycheck.
But, did I read much earlier, that it's a problem with Okehampton runs (which somehow manifests itself as being off Scillies)?
Still the problem with a train that isn't cancelled, but is making additional stops (as said earlier-the previous train was cancelled).

Thank you grahame for all your efforts

You're in good company as the IET PIS doesn't know about that one either!

(that should exercise the acronym expander...)
