But some Forest fans due to travel by train have so far been unable to make the journey. East Midlands Railway (EMR) said it was running a full timetable and had "strengthened services where possible". They would still need transport to get there....your suggestion doesn't ease the problem, and probably compliucates it as train services aren't necessarily direct from both locations. Post by: Bmblbzzz on May 29, 2022, 17:20:47 Wembley is the traditional venue for play-offs and cup finals partly because fans and players look forward to the atmosphere of the big stadium (or are supposed to) but also because it is a neutral venue. And as said above, it's a known venue. As soon as you know your team are in the finals, you know where you need to get to.

And cup semi-finals…I think semi-finals at Wembley was done to increase the income for Wembley Stadium since it was rebuilt. Obviously it could also be a coincidence. ;D Back in the day, FA cup semi-final venues were chosen from a select few reasonably large grounds at fairly short notice to fit in with competing team locations. Indeed. Grounds used between 1970 and 1993 included Villa Park, Hillsborough, Highbury, Maine Road, Goodison Park, White Hart Lane, Stamford Bridge.
