Title: Car share - any experience?
Post by: grahame on June 15, 2022, 06:27:47
It has always struck me as crazy - on public as well as private transport - that there are so many empty seats being carted around.   Two of the massive greening and efficiency questions of our society - "do you really need to travel" and "is there a seat going your way anyway?"

Do you have any experience of ride sharing?   Giving and/or receiving?   What would encourage you to give / receive lifts [at all / more often]?

Biggest problem in taking part as a ‘taker’ of lifts is that they are never available at the times you want them out and/or return.

Great when you find one at a usable time, only to find there’s nothing available coming back. Or the driver has a change of plan while out.

They won’t catch on big time

I car share with a colleague. We start and finish within 10 mins of each other Monday to Friday and live 200 yards apart.
All goes well until we have an issue being coach drivers, excess traffic, broken down, then one of us is left waiting for the other for sometimes an hour or more. Saying that only happened a couple of times
