Title: Lorry crashes onto ECML near Edinburgh, 23rd June 2022
Post by: JayMac on June 23, 2022, 15:36:32
Fortunate that fewer trains are running today as this could have been a very nasty incident. That said, the linespeed here is 125mph and there were still passenger services running on the ECML to/from Edinburgh. Lucky escape.

Wallyford, east of Edinburgh.

I hope he's not badly injured.

He is in hospital, sadly. Injuries so far unknown.

I hope the driver is being investigated by the Police....

That rather presupposes he's to blame. The incident will be investigated. Then charges may be brought against any party deemed at fault. Far too early to be pinning blame on the lorry driver.

Here's hoping he's okay.

No it doesn't! As the vehicle that blocked the line, he will be the first port of call, and then the incident (if any others were involved!). I quite deliberately said 'investigated' for that reason, there may be no others involved. It does not pre-suppose anything.

As already said

The Police will do what is necessary to discover the cause and arrest, charge etc if required to do so

No offence to any individual operators or drivers of them: as soon as a vehicle of that type's in sight, it's good to have your eyes out on stalks.

I'd try to keep out of the vicinity of any vehicle whose two front two wheels can point in those directions... ;D

But srsly, thoughts go to all injured and affected parties.
