As a former TfL employee myself I almost inevitably have a slightly jaundiced view of my onetime boss but he does seem to be generally well regarded in the public transport world and by politicians of various hues. He has a particular knack of making sure his political masters know the implications of their policies (reintroducing open platform buses springs particularly to mind) but then getting on with the job and making the best of it.

The much better liked new "routemasters" became known as "Boris buses" and not as anything to do with Peter Hendy, now Lord.
