NEW: @Vivarail has confirmed it has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators. MD Steve McBride says if the company is unable to secure a rescue package administration is 'inevitable'. Its statement says Greenford branch battery train trial due to start in early 2023.

It's a shame but bearing in mind how few they seem to have sold into service, sadly not surprising.

Hopefully some established and substantial company in the industry will step in and acquire the business.

Indeed - trains have been replaced by buses - "Indefinitely" - because the trains can't be guaranteed to run with the maintenance provider not being available.

1. There are 30 class 153 carriages in store, some assigned but not (yet) back out.  They have formerly run on this line. Can half a dozen of those - running in pairs - be returned to the line as soon as next week?  Tape the loos out of use if you like to make them disability / equality complaint - their run is a lot less that Heathrow to Shenfield which has no loos on it.

2. How do things stand with the other Vivarial trains, for example from Ryde to Shanklin

3. Are LNWR taking advantage of a situation to run a lower cost service than a train while pointing the spotlight to the rolling stock provider, or do they really want to get their trains back and running?   What risk assessments were and are done by TOCs looking at the risk of a whole class / fleet of trains being out of commission?

This recent article reports that TfW are still looking to introduce the class 230 into service.
