Title: Salisbury->Carlisle ticketing anomaly
Post by: Trowres on December 01, 2022, 23:36:19
I tried planning a journey from Salisbury to Carlisle on a weekday, returning about a week later.

According to both National Rail and GWR booking engines, there is a journey 08:15 from Salisbury, via London Waterloo and Euston, arriving Carlisle at 14:48. So far so good however, both sites say that no fares are available (even though an anytime return via London fare exists).

The Avanti website also suggests this itinerary, and even manages to provide the correct fare, an off-peak return at £179.60 (although the anytime fare is also offered at £489.40.

At least Avanti can do something right!  ;D

So, what on earth could be causing GWR and National Rail to go wrong on this service? They also fail on the 09:47 (change Basingstoke and London) but work on the 10:21 (via Waterloo/Euston).

Well I have failed to reproduce the same phenomenon today, so perhaps it was a transient due to ongoing changes in the timetable database.
