Title: Line closure between Plymouth and Totnes 31 December
Post by: TaplowGreen on December 31, 2022, 17:08:27
Huge problems in store tonight for those travelling to/from the South West and not promising signs for road replacement;

Due to heavy rain flooding the railway between Totnes and Plymouth all lines are closed.

Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 10:00, 01/01.

Customer Advice
We are sorry for the delay to your journey today.

Unfortunately a flood warning has been issued between Totnes and Plymouth. A water closure mark has been reached which means we are unable to run trains safely.

Replacement road transport is trying to be resourced but will be extremely limited.

Latest update on GWR Twitter

"We are unable to source rail replacement services between these stations, and no trains will run until tomorrow morning.

Customers are advised not to travel or to attempt to travel into/out of Devon and Cornwall today. Tickets booked for today can be used tomorrow instead".

- those who are stranded will no doubt be provided with accommodation etc?

.....and as for those tickets which "can be used tomorrow"................
