Sun's out. Still chilly though.

The yellow brick strongly suggests London.

The gasometer and buildings top left iniatially suggested somewhere close to The Oval, but there is no Overground close by. Further investigation suggests possibly Cambridge Heath station, but the wires are conspicuous by their absence ?

Yes, where were you? Have you been aboard a boat?

Cambridge Heath is correct. Wires are there.

Headed back to the Kent coast now. Inside Jessica Ennis. Ooo-er!

Finn and I came up to town from Ramsgate for a few hours. Main reason was to visit a location from a TV sitcom that I binge watched while ill. Anyone care to guess which show, and location? FB friends need not answer as I've posted pics there already.

If I hadn’t seen the answer I would have said either Clapham High Street or Wandsworth Road, can’t remember which though.

That’s ‘Duckett’s Passage’ from the sit com Goodnight Sweetheart starring Nicolas Lyndhurst.

Absolutely loved that series.

I almost posted that answer yesterday and must have got distracted. Apologies.

Correct. Ezra St, E2 in real life. Loved the show too. I walked down the alley but stayed resolutely in 2023!

And then I had a pint and a sandwich in here. No sign of Phoebe Bamford or PC Reg Deadman...

This pub also stood in for The Blind Beggar in the film Legend, about the Krays. And it featured briefly in the eponymous 1990 film about them - that one starring the brothers out of Spandau Ballet. It also featured in Guy Ritchie's Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels. Seems its a popular location for gangster movies!

While I was in there I got talking to two other blokes I'd noticed taking pictures of the pub and the streets outside. I mentioned it featuring in Goodnight Sweetheart. "We know," came the reply. "We work in the industry as location scouts."

Bit embarrassing! And they wouldn't say what they were scouting for.

Wow, the pub really does look how it looked in the TV series. Can’t remember seeing the yellow lines and the cycle logo on the road though  ;) The lamppost could do with a lick of paint too.

Would have a bit of a shock had both you and Finn ended up in 1940! I bet a few fans of the series have walked down Ezra St to see if they did end up being transported back in time to wartime London.

From memory, the first five series were excellent but I think the writers were running out of story lines by series six, the magic had gone and it was time to call it a day.

Indeed, it's nice when it doesn't disappoint.  Over the years, my partner Sally has introduced me to the joys of having a look at location sites of favourites of ours if we happen to be in the locality.
When strolling through Clerkenwell we took a look at Florin Court which doubled up as Poirot's home "Whitehaven Mansions" in the David Suchet episodes.  It's very recognisable.
A TV series from the 1980s, Mapp and Lucia (the adaptation featuring Prunella Scales as Mapp) was filmed in Rye and it really does look just like the series and Sally was able to point out many of the locations when we were an a short holiday down there.
Sadly, not all old locations have fared so well.  The south Devon hotel that featured prominently in the Miss Marple "Towards Zero" TV production has been replaced and the site overdeveloped.  Particularly disappointing as we were by coincidence down there during the later days of shooting and actually saw an outdoor scene being filmed.
