Title: Bristol Model Railway Exhibition, 28-30 April 2023, Thornbury
Post by: grahame on February 08, 2023, 17:35:36
See https://www.bristolmodrailex.uk

The Bristol Model Railway Exhibition takes part at the Thornbury Leisure Centre from 28th to 30th April 2023.

Last year, there were 35 models, 46 trade stands and 10 societies and group. This year, Railfuture (Severnside) branch will have a stand there (8' x 6') and I have offered to help / share - I admit I love doing these things - with a view to helping promote the Coffee Shop.

I am looking, hopefully, for volunteers who would like to join me for a day (or even two).  I am liaising with Wendy, from Railfuture, to work out the stand and there will certainly be space for other groups and campaigns to have leaflets there - Railfuture is very much about associating and encouraging rail use and campaigns.    Should be a win for everyone and it should be fun too.  And, yes, I am aware it's a bus ride or lift to get there!

Please let me know if you would like to help.

Bringing this up VERY late in the day - but THANK YOU gents and I will be detailing today.  We can have an excellent weekend / days at Thornbury - my days of modelling (trains, not in person) are over but it will be good to look around, and to meet others and have a social element to the day.

Totally off topic for this thread - local politics has taken the front seat in recent days - http://grahamellis.uk/blog843.html - and that's just one element of what's been going on.

All sorts of trains from the old to the new - and a number of interesting people met.

Perhaps because it was a working day (a Friday), most of the visitors were retired, and perhaps because we're talking model railways, most of them were men. I wonder if we'll be overrun by young ladies tomorrow.

Those two suspicious characters on the right look like extras from ‘The Outlaws’…

Templecombe has double track again, and is electrified with a third rail.   Passing is 935 "Sevenoaks" - Schools class.  Wikipedia tells me that one of the name plates is in the Science and Technology Centre at Sevenoaks School.  Ah - still there, I see.  I went to Sevenoaks, and in "Vista" (the ST is Sciene and Technology) use to knock my head on that nameplate when working on the automated model railway in front of it ... interesting time!

Looks like a certain 'Doctor' from Gallifrey is visiting too. ;)
