I am in favour of reducing the cost of delay repay ... doing so by making the trains more reliable.

...and while Delay Repay was presumably intended to "incentivise" private companies to avoid delays in the brave new privatised world, at the moment the TOCs aren't paying it as they're still I think supported by the DfT, and it takes away money which could be used to make the service more reliable.  I'd much rather the train ran on time than get a bit of the fare back.

Day one of four days of GWR Westcountry diversions and already (as of 10am), as a result of the very first Down service leaving Paddington 15 minutes late, delays to both GWR and SWR services has reached 100 minutes! Could be quite a hefty bill come the end of the diversions!
