Title: Stagecoach puts up its fares
Post by: Chris from Nailsea on July 17, 2008, 23:07:22
Stagecoach is raising its fares by an average 6.5 per cent amid soaring diesel costs, in a move matching the Oxford Bus Company. The bus company announced the rise would apply to services throughout Oxfordshire. Most singles will rise by 10p to 20p, said Stagecoach marketing manager Chris Child, with the new fares taking effect on Sunday, July 27. Last month, Oxford Bus Company announced the same average rise.

Mr Child said: "It is a year since we increased single and return fares, with Megarider and season tickets not rising in over two years. With diesel pump prices increasing by more than 35 per cent over the past year we are unable to absorb these extra costs indefinitely."
