Post by: Lee on July 18, 2007, 11:20:08
Plans have been unveiled for a multi-million pound care village for the elderly on the site of a former railway station in North Somerset. St Monica's Trust has handed in a blueprint to the district council for a 90-bedroom care home and 95 sheltered housing units at Sandford , near Weston-super-Mare (link below.)

It is planned at the village's redundant railway station on the old strawberry line which ran between Wells and Yatton until its closure in 1963.

A second application has also been submitted for permission to demolish the site's metal buildings and carry out alterations to the railway shed , station master's house and old baggage hall to convert them into offices.
