I may be travelling from London to Edinburgh with East Coast, but I don't know whether I should travel on a HST or a 225. What would you recommend?

I always travel by 125 from York to the X. Just prefer to hear what the engines are doing...especially accelerating up to and through the tunnels at Hadley Wood etc. Up the front end they have pretty comfortable and more generous seats too. Pity none of those GNER refurb sets survived...the brown interiors...they were like Pullmans. a New York interior designer apparently...and all gone what a waste.
Back end of Feb, I'm off to Falmouth to see son, so, you've guessed it, it'll be 125 York to X, 125 Padd to Truro. Kinda hoping Truro to Fal still had 153s too.  ;)

Rumour has it that EC want to swap their 180s for GC's 125s...not too sure GC would be too happy, just like they are extremely unhappy with the proposed new EC timetable. >:(

I would prefer if GC had a class 67 hauled servive or something like that! Rather than 5 car 180s. At least they have managed to keep their HSTs.

If travelling on the East Coast I will always try to go for an HST if its going to where I want to go and when. Though a 225 is more than acceptable way to travel up and down the East Coast  :)

I agree with caliwag that the GNER HSTs were very stylish inside and out the like of which I doubt we will ever see again.

Whether you use a 125 or 225 on the EC both are far more comfortable than the Vermin's on the WC
