Title: FGW 2 for 1 offers
Post by: eightf48544 on May 02, 2010, 11:13:59
Just received an email from FGW re 2 for 1 offers in May, headed

"2FOR1 offers and book ahead for great deals on train tickets"

http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/Content.aspx?id=47 (http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/Content.aspx?id=47)

Thought I was onto a good thing, we could visit elderley Aunt in Devon for price of one rail ticket.

Turns out offer is for various attractions in London, Bath, Bristol and Devon.

All it is you have to download vouchers for special deals to visit the selected  attractions, it's not 2 for 1 rail travel.

Hence posting in Smoke and Mirrors.

I received a load of coupons for this in the post yesterday.  The letter said something about me having children - do they know something that I don't?!  :o

The terms say "Then, on arrival, simply present a completed voucher along with your valid train ticket to London."  I've added the bold - would the 2 for 1 become invalid because the gate at PAD has decided to gobble up your ticket?

Your return ticket would be sufficient.  You just need to show you have travelled by train.
