18:00 Pad to Bristol Temple Meads was cancelled as well - so a two carriage train is going to be a tight squeeze!

I assume this isn't actually a 2carriage train from Pad?

From what I can gather the 1830 PAD-WSM (1C26) just left Bath 3 down having run more or less on time all the way from Paddington. So I would guess that the two-car service alert might be a mistake. Unless they're planning to terminate the HST at Temple Meads and run a DMU from there, I suppose, although there's no evidence of that on the live departure boards.

Interestingly, also from FGW live updates:

Must be an error.

It's surely not even possible for a two car unit substitute for a HST from Paddington to Bristol. Turbos don't go beyond Didcot and west DMUs not beyond Swindon. There'd be a distinct lack of route and traction knowledge!

Now departed Temple Meads 1 late at 2019; it must be an HST to have kept time all the way from Paddington, and it doesn't look like there's been any kind of set swap at BRI unless they've managed to set a world record shortest time for doing it.

Damn!  Too late for me to nip down to NLS to see what goes past!  :o

A Turbo could go to Temple Meads, they certainly used to when the Temple Meads to Oxford was running so I guess an extension to Weston Super Mare could be done (although that is more suspect unless it is permitted somewhere, perhaps the sectional appendix?)

Yes a Turbo could go to BRI, but I very much doubt there are any LTV drivers out there who have up to date route knowledge.

Easy, 1830 ex Padd caped at Bristol to form the 2030 BTM Padd, a Sprinter provided to form C26/M70.

Maybe just my quirky sense of humour, but I love the thought of a caped service going to Weston Super Mare
