Title: St Davids Day express, 1st march
Post by: anthony215 on February 22, 2011, 13:05:30
There has been anumber of changes to the locomotives which were booked to work this. originally booked to be Tornado but due to the problems with  that loco it was changed to 70013 now today i have found out that  it has been changed to 34067 tango (Cant spell the full name) not sure if this latest loco has actually worked a steam special to south wales before.

The locomotive is booked to be turned by running around the triangle at leckwith and running down on the valley lines network to Cadoxton.

I can supply timings if anyone would like them.

Wonder why it's going as far as Cadoxton?

I would have thought Leckwith Loop Jn North Junction, Leckwith Loop Jn  South Ninian Park Penarth Curve North Junction.

Having read this, I can't get the idea of a bright orange Bullied Pacific out of my mind.......

They had that A4 locomotive back in 2010 which did the same thing

Wasn't this tour originally due to run to Carmarthen...? I know my dad was planning to head down to Ferryside or Llansteffan to phot Tornado at some point round about now, before it was pulled from the tour. Dead easy turning a steamer at Carmarthen of course, given that it's at the apex of a triangular junction with a run-round loop, and the gaps in service ought to allow the necessary movements to be made without much interference.
