Title: Passenger Focus - current focus
Post by: grahame on November 04, 2007, 18:57:33
Gary Dangerfield of Passenger Focus, commenting at Rail Future conference in Ely yesterday

Passenger Focus currently have major projects / concentration on:

Fares
Seats for Passengers
Disruption Management
Complaints
Accessibility
Ststions

In order to provide the correct service, they have surveyed travellers asking them what's most important and in order the top five were:

1. Value for Money
2. Trains to run at the time they are wanted
3. Punctuality
4. A seat when travelling
5. Information available

Would anyone like to help me fill the thread in by saying a bit about Passenger Focus? Thanks!

Dont know what you want but y priorities are:

1. Seat with table
2. Train running within 30 minutes to time
3. Buffet service
4. Nice staff

4. Nice staff

I'll add to that.

Buffet staff who don't treat children like dirt.

I think I might know the one you mean. She (if it's the same one) treated me like dirt, and I too had a (weekend) first ticket. I would have complained except I thought that she had probably just been told she wouldn't have a job come the timetable change, so it probably wasn't worth bothering.

I work for FGW and I must say most of the buffet staff are arrogant so and so's, the restaurant crews are the worst! But there are some cracking buffet stewards too, most of whom seem to be from Penzance and Bristol.

Well  - Every First Class trip i've been on (about 4) i've had rude buffet staff. The one time the trolley payed me a visit, it was very friendly and was happy to give me a diet coke (chilled) and a cup! Outstanding!

There are some nice ones I agree - BUT sadly I think they are actually the minority.

Living in Cornwall I must say that Penzance staff are nice and cheery to children but its the Exeter/Plymouth that are horrible.

Passenger Focus might consider trying to reduce the number of times their restructure and their rate of staff turnover and the consequent cost to the taxpayer: see http://groups.google.com/group/uk.railway/msg/e880a461480654bd and http://www.theyworkforyou.com/wrans/?id=2007-10-11a.154465.h
