CCTV RELEASED IN WAKE OF SERIOUS ASSAULT ^ LLANELLI

British Transport Police (BTP) officers investigating a serious assault at Llanelli rail station last night (Thursday 3 November) have released CCTV images of two men they would like to trace in connection with the incident.

The attack, which took place around 6.30pm yesterday (Thursday), left the victim, a 48-year-old man from Burry Port, with a fractured jaw. Now, BTP has issued images of two people they believe may have vital information about the incident.

Detective Inspector Mark Cleland, who is leading the investigation, said: ^Officers were called to Llanelli rail station, Great Western Crescent, at around 6.30pm yesterday after receiving reports of a serious assault on platform 1. As a result of this sickening attack, the victim^s jaw was fractured in three places and he is now waiting to undergo surgery.

^Having spoken to witnesses and studied CCTV footage from the station, we have identified two men we would like to speak to. The first is around 5ft 7in with short light brown or ginger hair. He was wearing a grey rainproof top with pockets along the chest area, a light T-shirt with a Nike badge and dark trousers, and was carrying a blue backpack with a white logo and yellow stripes across the back. The second man we would like to trace is around 6ft, of big build, and had short dark hair with a little point at the front. He was wearing a black hooded jacket with a white logo and a drawstring round the neck and blue jeans.

^Both men entered the station and went over the footbridge to platform 1. They were then seen walking back through the bridge before leaving the station onto Great Western Crescent. They were last seen in the taxi rank near Neville Street, Llanelli, just after 6.30pm.^

DI Cleland added: ^This was a very serious assault and we are eager to trace these two men, who we believe may have key information in relation to this incident. If you were at Llanelli station around the time of the attack, or if you recognise the two individuals pictured, I would ask you to contact police as a matter of urgency. Detectives are continuing to make local enquiries and we are asking anyone with any information to come forward.^
