To be fair Wessex refurbished some of the 158's which are heading north. I went on one with pink seats the other day which was in fairly good nick!

None of the unit's Wessex refurbed are going back, the ones wessex refurbed are 158 747,748,749 and 751 all of which are staying, infact, 749 is in Doncaster being refurbed for FGW as we speak!

So it's the ex TPX units?

That is correct alphaline = ex-Wessex 158s. FGW are keeping all the ex-TPX units that came down this way last year and one by one are going into Wabtec for Refurb. Currently, some of the sets FGW have belong to Angel and some to Porterbrook and have different engines. The plan is for FGW to have one fleet, one engine, owned by one ROSCO. Keeps things simple from a maintainance and accountancy point of view  :)

We're keeping all the ex TPE unit's and 158745/746 (blue seats, refurbished by Wales&West, Wessex trains' predecessor), we are also keeping 158747,748,749 and 751 which were ex Virgin units which Wessex inherited in 2003 they were then refurbished by Wessex and have pink seats, these set's are staying with FGW and will be refurbished by FGW, they are currently in "Alphaline" livery. the ones which are going back are the 158/8's which are also in Alphaline livery but have blue seats, these sets were refurbished by Wales&West before Wessex trains was "invented".
