The only thing missing is the Famous Five and lashings of ginger beer....

Add in the cubicles on Platform 12 and it still makes unequal provision...

Still doesn't seem right to have all the Ladies loos stationside and all the Gents outside in the car park
If this position was reversed I am sure there would be even more shrill loud complaints.

No loos with no views ...for gentleman at least

Went into TM(resolve) today. The gents loos in the subway are now branded ladies... the ladies loos are cordoned off.
Toilets are advertised on Plat 10/12...but for ladies only.

Gentleman of the crossed legged variety have to make their way out into the covered car park outside the barriers, where there are 6 smelly dirty unhygenic portaloos.

Come on TM....this is hardly equal provision is it Huh??. I would hazard a guess that the footfall of passengers on a daily basis is 60% male 40% female.

5  Sideshoots - associated subjects / Campaigns for new and improved services / Re: Portishead Line reopening for passengers - ongoing discussion on: March 15, 2024, 08:15:06
Looks like a pared down version of Ebbw Vale Town/Parkway. Given the exposed nature of the site at the head of the Gordano valley, I can't help thinking the whole lot will be blown away in the first good gale! As it stands, I cant see any shelter from the weather whatsoever.

The proposed Portishead station plans are up for consideration on the North Somerset website. It is also referenced on the Portishead Railway group website and can be found by following this link...24/P/0474/DCW...

In the early days of the project, many promises were made about the quality and reliability of these new trains.

In the early days of the project, many promises were made about the quality and reliability of these new ..............roads/hospitals/libraries/sports centres/airports/aircraft carriers/armoured cars/mail deliveries/bank availabilities/flood prevention schemes/electric cars/supermarket cashiers/Boeing 737s/etc/etc................this could be a whole new thread in itself for an election year

Don't tell Rishi ....or we might get Network North joined up by whirlybirds dodging the Amazon drones.
9  All across the Great Western territory / Introductions and chat / Re: Greenwich to Melksham, 1st November 2023 on: November 03, 2023, 03:26:10
I spent 3 very frosty days in London in January of this year and was delighted to find a river roamer ticket for a day was half price with a ENCTS (English National Concessionary Travel Scheme) card (bus pass) and that it was less than £10. . It was brilliantly sunny and I remember doing 3 return trips between  Battersea Power Station and Greenwich, extending to Barking and Putney at peak time. The last trip was especially magical as all the lights of the skyscrapers came on gradually.

He/she might be leaving the Grays dreys behind to visit our Red cousin here in the West Country. He will have to take a trip on the Severn beech line !
11  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture in the United Kingdom / Re: HS2 - Government proposals, alternative routes and general discussion on: October 04, 2023, 16:50:59
Call me cynical, but by the time all these schemes come to fruition...... don't forget 3 miles of track to Portishead has taken 20 plus years and is still 3 years away.....and has been subjected to  7.5km of paperwork and too many reviews and revised costings to count.....I can't see much loose change from £36 billion!
12  Journey by Journey / Bristol (WECA) Commuters / Re: underground plans for Bristol update. on: September 27, 2023, 21:07:06
Given the width of the guidedbusway rails on the m2...I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Marvin ordered some broad gauge trains to replace the buses.....as a parting shot to a certain WECA» (West of England Combined Authority - about) mayor.
13  Journey by Journey / Bristol (WECA) Commuters / Re: Portway Park and Ride Station on: August 03, 2023, 09:21:55
Would love to see one of the Aida cruise ships docking at Portway park and ride. There are some bollards on the opposite bank from the days of the Pill 'hobblers' which might help !!

Perhaps TonyK would like to adopt a new moniker for this thread ...Four Cruisers Now !
