Mark Harper FOD MP (Member of Parliament) appointed Transport Sec. Cue Norchard as GBR (Great British Railways) HQ (Headquarters) and HS3 hub. Can he please get his ex Chief whipping skills in operation on the Portishead line ?

I remember taking the SNCF (Societe Nationale des Chemins de fer Francais - French National Railways) train into Portbou and the RENFE (Spanish National Railways (Red Nacional de Ferrocarriles Espanoles)) train back to Cebere one afternoon some years ago. On arrival in Spain, one side of the platform was all in the blue and grey of SNCF and the other side of the red and yellow of RENFE. It was the same in the shared buffet with croissants one side and tortillas the other. I half expected a Ronnie Barker type character to address me in French costume and accent on one side and then turn round and repeat it all again in Spanish. At least I was not charged in francs and pesetas because they were in the euro zone by then!!

New transport Secretary named as Anne-Marie Trevelyan. MP (Member of Parliament) for Berwick on Tweed about as far as you can get in England from our neck of the woods. I wonder if she has heard of Portishead..the town not the pop group. She is said to have a passion for singing....I wonder if she knows the words of Thomas the Tank Engine....

As I thought  BCT stop running the m1 metrobus tomorrow. No service over the weekend. First take it over from Monday. All the other bus services cease tomorrow. No guarantee from Weca that alternative operators can be found.

from Travelwest...

m1 and other bus services not operating 3rd and 4th September
Disruption to services is also likely on 2nd September.

Summary of changes
M1 METROBUS SERVICE
HCT group, which operates the m1 metrobus service, has informed us, that regrettably, it will be unable to operate the service after Friday 2nd September. The future of the service, however, has been secured and operations will be transferred to First Bus, which will start operating the service from Monday 5th September to a slightly revised timetable.

We ask that passengers be aware that there may be disruptions to some late evening journeys on Friday 2nd September and that there will be no service on Saturday 3rd or Sunday 4th September due to the transfer of staff and buses.

For the new m1 timetable effective from Monday, 5th September, visit the link below

The group has informed us, that regrettably, it will be unable to operate those services after Friday 2nd September.

The West of England Combined Authority is currently working hard to try and secure an alternative operator for these services however from the 3rd September these services will cease operating.

I think it's all about poor taste whichever way you look at it.

Thank you for that clarification. Lets hope Points West also make this clear in tonights bulletin.
56  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Bristol Community Transport going into administration on: August 23, 2022, 13:49:20
As announced on Points west this Tuesday lunchtime. The M1 metrobus may well be saved but many of the smaller services probably not.
57  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Boardmasters 2022 on: August 17, 2022, 10:25:10
Perhaps the organising commitees of Boardmasters and the Brizzle Bloon Fester could actually talk to each other about NOT holding their events on the same weekend in future years. Then there mght be a fairer share of buses all round.
It was a shame the surfers didnt hang on one more day. The streets of Newquay were awash on Monday!
58  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re 11th to 14th August 2022- Bristol International Balloon Fiesta on: August 12, 2022, 00:05:34
Only in Labour controlled Bristol can you have a Mayor who declares a climate emergency, flies to Canada to talk about climate change, then has a festival that burns huge amounts of gas, and has no bus service to serve the people who wish to attend. Just look back at the great organization that happened for the commonwealth games, then look at what happens, or didn't happen in Bristol.
59  All across the Great Western territory / Diary - what's happening when? / Re: Imber bus day on: August 11, 2022, 13:18:53
Contrast that with the lack of shuttle buses because the  BalloonFiesta committee were not prepared to pay the £120,000 contract found for buses and drivers by Dan Norris. If  Marvin had not gone off on one of his jolly jaunts overseas, then surely that money could have been found.
60  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: 11th to 14th August 2022- Bristol International Balloon Fiesta on: August 10, 2022, 17:51:10
Three years since this has happened....and for the residents of Pill Portbury and Portishead the additional pleasure of the buses being rammed for the first three miles in and out of the city. And no shuttle buses this year.... all for £120,00 which the fiesta committee said they didn't have  Surely they could have cancelled one of Marvin's jolly jaunts in unfamiliar climes to pay for it.
