1  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - new December timetable on: August 07, 2019, 10:09:49
Thanks for posting this - and the link to the CHarlbury website; very interesting indeed from the point of view of a Kingham - Paddington commuter - as see the current 623 will leave at 616 - and get into Paddington at 734 instaed of 752; a major improvement.  Plus the current non-stopping at Kingham at just gone 7 will stop.

Don't know what to think about the 1822 going though - as that works out nicely finishing work at 17.30 - but obviously main change is even to Kingham it;s going to be 1hr 9 minutes instead of the current 1hr 1/2.

The non-stopping at Reading is interesting though as presume it means that the guards will have to announce before the trains leave that it's the Cotswold train - as currently people cna still get off at Reading if the wrong train - but the number  of times they announced the destination once the train has left.

Interesting times ahead - even if it does mean less reading time on the train (no pun intended),
2  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2019 cancellation and amendments log on: May 23, 2019, 22:45:56
Yesterday (22nd) the 1752 Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill was 5 carriages instead of 9 - but no explanation given at all.

Also, and apologies if the wrong place to post this - is anyone else having problems with the "free wifi" - as I tend to find on the 1822 Paddington to Hereford - the free wifi doesn't work at all; yet works fine on the 1752 or even the 0623 from Kingham to Paddington in the mornings.  Just wondered if it was me or others having the issues - as it used to work most of the time on the old HSTs (High Speed Train).
3  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2019 cancellation and amendments log on: February 27, 2019, 06:30:17
I see the 447 Hereford to Paddington (which I presume is the 0623 Kingham - Paddington) is 5 carriages instead of 9.  No explanation given - but yet they still designate the front 2 coaches to 1st class - leaving 3 carriages for us mere mortals.  Hate to think how long it will take to get off the train at Paddington ...

Also, has anyone else noticed that on some of the new trains, none of the flushes are working on the toilers ... don't recall that happening on the older trains. (sorry if that isn't relevant for this chain - no pun intended)
4  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Subtle train time changes on: December 18, 2018, 06:40:04
Is it me, or have the times of some of the trains on the Cotswold line changed every so slightly but I can't remember seeing any notification anywhere.

Last week I noticed the 1822 Paddington to Kingham was advertised on the platform as 1821.  And this morning, the 623 from Kingham to Padd now leaves at 620.  I wouldn't mind, but we still had to wait at Charlbury as per usual due to the single line, and the train isn't advertised to get into Paddington any quicker.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks a confused from Bourton.
5  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: 1822 Pad to Hereford query on: October 16, 2018, 21:05:20
Thanks - that explains it - although there's no announcement on the train advising this, which is what confused me even more.
6  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / 1822 Pad to Hereford query on: October 16, 2018, 19:31:32
Have I missed something. I regularly get the 1822 from Paddington to Kingham. It always used to go to Hereford under the guise of the Cathedral's Express, but now goes to Worcester and no name ...

I was on hols for 2 weeks but don't recall seeing any announcements.

Thanks, confused from BOTW.
7  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Oxford engineering works July 2018 on: July 03, 2018, 23:03:13
I'm confused with the information given on GWR (Great Western Railway)'s website about the engineering work next week/week after - as it seems to imply there'll be 3 replacement bus services

1 - Hanborough - Oxford Parkway
2 - Hanborough - DIdcot Parkway
3 - Moreton in Marsh - Oxford Parkway

However, when looking at times online, it seems only 1 and 2 are viable.  I know they need to do the work - but going from Kingham (and reliant on the bus service from Bourton) - there's not a 623 equivalent in the morning - just 5.55 and 7.26 - you'd have though they'd have made the trains every hr, not every 1 1/2 or so - especially at peak time.

8  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Charlbury platform extension on: May 30, 2018, 00:18:31
Just need buffet facilities at Kingham again now as very frustrating if trains delayed and worse if station closed so no toilets.
9  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: May 30, 2018, 00:15:23
And for those hoping to get home a little later this evening:

Quote
19:22 London Paddington to Evesham due 21:26 will be cancelled.
This is due to a shortage of train drivers.

20:22 London Paddington to Evesham due 22:20 will be terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh, Honeybourne and Evesham.
This is due to a shortage of train drivers.
.   I guess we'll see the same tomorrow then. Wasn't helped by the 1945 cross country Reading to Oxford and beyond not waiting for the Swansea passenger to cross, despite staff at Paddington saying it would. Although fortunately GWR (Great Western Railway) put on taxis to get home once at Oxford. Sorry, get to station and expect we all park so don't have lifts.  Still, got to meet an interesting family in the taxi, and learnt a bit of Latin in the process.

I did wonder at one point whether I'd missed the info on the updates, but have rechecked at there's no mention at all of any changes to services from Moreton southwards. Gwrhelp on twitter not very helpful neither as just retweeted the link to the updates. I'd have had a 1hr wait at Kingham otherwise as get the bus from Bourton. Not impressed with the info given (or not given) at all.
11  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: May 28, 2018, 18:00:01
For anyone who isn't aware, it looks as if the 5.55 from Kingham changes at Oxford, with the 0623 not running at all tomorrow and Wednesday, this is despite the travel update information which has been published not indicating any changed at all to the morning service from Kingham. I can understand that there's engineering works but not that the information given is incorrect. Only found out by chance as wanted to see what times trains were leaving Paddington in the evening
12  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / New bus service from Bourton to Kingham on: December 20, 2015, 13:18:28
Can I use this to publicise a new bus service from Bourton to Kingham - connecting with the 5.55, 6.20 and 7.20 trains in the morning - as well as the 3 trains from Paddington to Kingham until 7.50 (and the bus waits up to 20 minutes for the latter train).

At the moment, I'm the only one on the 5.30 from Bourton (via Rissington and Stow) and fear if no-one else uses it there's a risk it may disappear.

The service started in September, but has hardly been publicised at all - unless via Pullmans website, but yet if you don't travel by bus you wouldn't go on there to find out.  Did get a bit of publicity in the local lib dem councillor (Paul Hodgkinson) monthly newsletter (featuring my picture in front of the bus) but nothing since.

Am also the only one going back to Bourton in the evening via Chippy.

Does anyone know when the new bridge will be finished?
