3  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Looe Branch Line - cancellations, engineering work, closures and incidents (merged topic) on: June 16, 2016, 12:28:53
This always seems to have trains cancelled due to shortage of drivers, and it also gets flooded quite a lot too, hope everyone doesn't mind taking a bus!

I would love to go to this event :-)

Which one - the depot and/or the meetup?  Wink

The Coffee Shop forum meet-up in the Knights Templar (J D Wetherspoon) near Bristol Temple Meads is open to anyone - members or non-member readers of this forum.

I've therefore expanded the topic heading to cover both events, with thanks to bignosemac for suggesting the social meeting.  Grin

the depot Smiley it looks a good day lets hope the weather stays nice!

It will be interesting to see if they do keep the trading name as London Midland.
9  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: National Railcard discounts - ongoing discussion, no longer date specific on: April 06, 2016, 01:22:14
I don't think you can get 3-year YP cards....

Yeah you can it's ^70 online and can be bought within a certain time frame before your 24th Birthday
10  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: National Railcard discounts - ongoing discussion, no longer date specific on: April 05, 2016, 09:13:45
I prefer ordering the railcard on-line as your photo and everything is on one card unlike when you go to the station to buy it they give you the photo card and then the card with the expiry date on. Am 24 in August am tempted to buy a 3 year one two weeks before my birthday!
11  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture in the United Kingdom / Re: Bakerloo Line at Paddington on: April 05, 2016, 09:10:52
This is going to be a bit of a nightmare but they had to replace escalators at some point, would either jump H&C to baker street or walk down to edgware road.
12  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Cancellations and changes this morning on: April 05, 2016, 09:06:28
Back on topic of cancellations due to non-availability of traincrew, seem to be ongoing this evening round Cheltenham/Swindon/Westbury routes.
They're probably all stuck at Paddington!

This may have something to do with the major signal failure in the Southall area!
13  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Cancellations and changes this morning on: April 04, 2016, 14:52:28
From GWR (Great Western Railway) Twitter there was a jammed points issue as well as overrunning engineering works, or maybe the points jammed was the engineering work

From what I heard the points got damaged during engineering work.
14  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Collision between two trains at Plymouth Station - 3 April 2016 - merged topic on: April 04, 2016, 11:23:41
A photo on the south west railways and heritage Facebook group shows the 2nd carriage and possibly the 1st were fouling the points blocking 6,7,8 from Cornwall end,
The HST (High Speed Train) was pulled almost to the Cornwall end of the platform so no way the 150 was getting into the platform.

I saw this photo, I think either way the train wouldn't have been able to fit, we shall see what RAIB (Rail Accident Investigation Branch) find. Just good news that there was no serious injuries.
15  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Collision between two trains at Plymouth Station - 3 April 2016 - merged topic on: April 04, 2016, 10:57:17
3 people still remain in hospital, and there were no serious injuries thank goodness, now just for RAIB (Rail Accident Investigation Branch) to find out what has happened.
