2 Ulverston is the only one not to have featured in a TV series or a film.

Series 2, episode 4 of Michael Portillo's Great Coastal Railway Journeys featured him at Ulverston station. Tongue

Perhaps I should have inserted the word fictional somewhere.

Thanks.

Can I pre-empt tomorrow and say the second to reach 100mph was Flying Scotsman?

The connection is that they are all firsts:

(approximately):

1. The first main line London terminus
2. The first electric railway
3. The first to reach 100mph
4. The first battery-powered train

I think I can put a name to seven of them but may not all be correct.

I thought at first no. 4 was Bennerley Viaduct with the description and the mention of it being a scheduled monument, but I wasn't aware of it having originally being single track.

In fact, I think no. 5 is Bennerley Viaduct.

9. Must be Waterloo International which was replaced when the new HS1 (High Speed line 1 - St Pancras to Channel Tunnel) line was built to St Pancras.

I think 8 is Loch Tay station at the end of the Killin branch line. It closed when the steamer service on the Loch were discontinued.

11 is Filey Holiday Camp, provided for holidaymakers travelling to Butlin's at Filey. It was closed due to people increasingly travelling by car.

I nearly said Pontsticill for 10!  But it's not.
