Phase 2a immediately... **Ghost of Critchell Down has entered the coffeeshop* ...and phase 2b next summer when the government's intentions towards the Liverpool Leeds link have been scrapped, I mean, firmed up - HS2b and the ghost of HS3 have interdependencies.

Stumbled over this little nugget referencing Crichel Down and Crossrail https://www.burges-salmon.com/news-and-insight/legal-updates/crichel-down-rules-new-latest-case-law-guidance should be good for some lawyers.

Is the ridiculous plastic barrier at the north end of Sidmouth Street

And the plastic wands separating the car and bike lanes. Don't know if the barrier is still there. The main problem is that there is no "legal" way of getting from the Kennet towpath to Sidmouth Street (short of carrying on to Watlington Street ...). The pot of money they didn't get was to connect the towpath to Sidmouth Street, can't see why they thought they would get the money for not seeing the problem they were creating in the first place

is that useful I have never even seen a delivery bike on it.

Slight tangent but with so many Twyfords around the country should there be a move to rename the one in Berkshire Twyford on Loddon?
Certainly there is a Twyford Abbey in London.

Not sure adding "-on Thames" to Staines made it more attractive. Glad somebody sat on the idea of adding "-on Thames" to Didcot. If they hadn't what next, Basingstoke on Thames?

NOT on more roads to get people to the next traffic jam quicker. Better value repairing/maintaining local infrastructure

Maybe another name for your Wiltshire trains, from the Wiltshire flag, the Great Bustard. There again liable to mis-spelling.

Bus fares in rural England drop 11% thanks to government's £2 fare cap
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/bus-fares-in-rural-england-drop-11-thanks-to-governments-2-fare-cap
How does this translate to the income of the companies who run the buses? I believe the number of rural bus routes has continued to decline this year.

You could possibly have seen more of a bus if it hadn't been a Lodekka!
Can't remember was it just top deck or both that were lowered. Sorry I came from a Leyland buses area.

For those who want to investigate for themselves

https://data.police.uk/data/

where small numbers apply or expected extract for a longer period. Shoplifting is included as one of the categories.

BTP (British Transport Police) have their own site, which aslo includes shoplifting as a category

At least some of the routes are now walking and cycling trails, although I am sure more former routes could be added.

Did West Cowes, Newport, Sandown, Shanklin and Wroxall last Saturday, a most enjoyable trip.

This is, of course, a larger problem than just railways https://www.england.nhs.uk/mental-health/case-studies/archived-mental-health-case-studies/zero-suicide/
