I also think there is more space at Portsmouth and Southsea low level.

Whatever will be better than Reading years ago who decided to replace their bus station with no bus station

Travel in groups
Needs to be qualified by warning of those operators that don't accept Group Save, e.g. CrossCountry.

Buy in advance
Needs to be qualified that they are only valid on specified trains. Recent experience on South Western on a Saturday suggests that a lot of (unhappy) people do not understand that.

The introduction of the penalty fares regime was accompanied by a poster saying "It has never been easier to buy a ticket" should have been re-worded "It has never been easier to buy the WRONG ticket"

The original post appears to refer to a ticket machine at Sway in the New Forest. Pop down to Savernake? That would be a serious hike (or bike).

Sounds like a case of the 850 bus if you go from Twyford, or either the 800 (misses Twyford) or 850 from Reading.

Possibly Castlemans Corkscrew, or the old line from Brockenhurst to Ringwood in the New Forest.

multiple failed loos on trains
Sounds like you have been travelling on South Western trains. Look at Journeycheck on a Saturday morning and it can list more than 100 trains in service with defective loos. Wholesome on Saturday going towards Bournemouth with a couple of cruise liners due out and a football match (or two?). Absloutely rammed and I believe one manual loo working.

One assumes that the vast majority of those will not be in favour of the idea. Elsewhere that number would be sufficient to get a debate in parliament?

rather more impressive (ie noisier) SRN6
which I think you can now find one at the Hovercraft Museum at Lee-on-the-Solent https://www.hovercraft-museum.org/collections/, on the site of what was HMS Daedalus. Mention of the Interservice Hovercraft Trials Unit, reminds of when I was a youngster living on Hayling Island and they used to use the area in Chichester Harbour just south of Thorney Island.

SRN [Strategic Road Network] investment should prioritise maintenance of existing roads over the building of new ones. Transport Focus noted in its written evidence that drivers would prefer to have better maintained and managed roads over new ones, and the AA found that its members were most concerned about potholes. Yet RIS2 allocated £14.1bn for new and enhanced roads – more than it did for operations and maintenance. The committee recommended that if necessary, funding put aside for costly new road projects should be reallocated towards existing road upkeep.
