17  Journey by Journey / Heart of Wessex / Signalling problems at Frome 01 Apr 24 on: April 01, 2024, 07:14:44

What I would like to see is a Minehead parcel train, its a three hour round trip to Minehead from Taunton

Parcel companies would drop off parcel/s at norton fitzwarren then parcels would then be taken to Minehead and stored in a safe location.

Then picked up by the receiver at Minehead.

Not sure of what the cost of each small parcel would be though.
20  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: would you like your own LIVE train station departure board? on: March 27, 2024, 10:31:32

21  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / would you like your own LIVE train station departure board? on: March 26, 2024, 06:38:02
This is a good idea, but the cost is a little on the high side,
I suppose it would be something similar to what they have at Weatherspoons pub at BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI)).

I would have thought you could make up your own, through your phone a little bit cheaper.

There was a news item on  BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) points west local news at 06:25am

22  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / question about ticket gates at Bristol temple meads on: March 23, 2024, 09:07:03
Can anyone recall when was the first installation of ticket gates were installed at BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI))?

I recall there a very loose manual tickets checks being made just past the booking office,

although if you went towards Bonapartes you could just the lift the barriers out of the way.

Also there were the wooden partitions put in place to get passengers use to going through automatic gates.

attended a public meeting about extending quarry extraction from the quarry.

There will be no extra freight train movement, which in turn answered my second question

that there will be no impact on a possible introduction of passengers trains to Thornbury.
