The Seat 61 website gives quite a bit on the way to do it. I particularly like London to Tokyo overland/sea.

One does wonder to what extent Holyhead was a political inclusion.
93  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: G7 Summit - Cornwall - June 2021 on: March 24, 2021, 19:12:48
Thats was heroic! I prefer the walk down to St Keyne and then get the train back  up, (unless a Looe train turns up first).
94  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: G7 Summit - Cornwall - June 2021 on: March 24, 2021, 10:32:09
From my observations I am not sure Menheniot Platform1 needs a shelter. Nearly all passenger traffic is Plymouth commuters, and when they arrive back there is invariably someone in a car waiting to wisk them away!. I cant recall ever seeing a person travelling from Menheniot westwards!
95  Journey by Journey / Shorter journeys in Devon / Re: Okehampton on: March 21, 2021, 13:03:18
The Parkway station is likely to be a big hit with people driving in from N Cornwall and W Devon, and Exeter commuters. Driving in the Exeter at rush hour is terrible.
96  All across the Great Western territory / Looking forward - after Coronavirus to 2045 / Re: Patterns of returning passengers? on: March 21, 2021, 13:00:30
Looking at recent estate agent data for Cornwall there has been a surge of people  relocating to Cornwall. Many, it would appear, are going to home work, and maybe just go to the office once a week. As many are ex- London, there may be a significant surge in once-a-week business travel from Cornwall to London, and quite possibly an increase in sleeper traffic (not that we need that as it was , pre-covid already well subscribed ).
97  Journey by Journey / Portsmouth to Cardiff / Re: Wilton station on: March 10, 2021, 18:03:16
FOUR platforms???
98  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Most scenic Cornish branch line on: March 09, 2021, 10:48:15
True in places, but not universally. The St Ives branch views of the sea are largely unencumbered by vegetation, similarly the spectacular bit of the Looe branch from Sandplace down to the sea. I'm not sure I would say there is  much to see by comparison on the Falmouth or Newquay branches, vegetated or not - inland Cornwall is nice but not knock-out in my humble Cornish opinion.
99  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Trewoon bridge replacement March 2021 on: March 04, 2021, 13:23:06
Its not just rail passengers who are involved. The St Austell to Newquay main road is closed as well while the bridge work goes on.
100  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: IETs on: March 02, 2021, 19:48:31
Hopefully the awful seats will wear out first and allow a refit with something better suited to providing a comfortable a journey from Paddington to Penzance
101  Journey by Journey / Wales local journeys / Re: Bow Street Station (Aberystwyth) opens 14.2.2021 on: February 28, 2021, 13:06:10
With about  one train every two hours in each direction its hardly Clapham Junction!
102  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Par to Newquay line closed on: February 25, 2021, 20:19:01
Its a lot quicker to run the bus from St Austell to Newquay than from Par and it gives better onward connections on to the mainline. I also suspect most local travellers  go on to St Austell  anyway as there is hardly much to detain them in Par! ( with apologies to Parisians).
103  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: any indication of when we can get back on the trains? on: February 25, 2021, 16:21:20
Apart from Derbyshire Police who have demonstrated a notable lack of understanding of the difference between guidance and regulations.
104  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: any indication of when we can get back on the trains? on: February 25, 2021, 13:06:57
The ' Local" term has only ever been in the Guidance. The Guidance has no legal standing .The legalities are  as defined in the Conronovirus Regulations, a statutory instrument  issued by the Secretary of State, where  there is no mention whatsoever  about local or non local.
105  Journey by Journey / Plymouth and Cornwall / Re: Engineering work to close St Ives branch Jan to Feb 2021 on: February 21, 2021, 18:24:23
I agree. It would also imply a leveleof "joined up government" which is sadly almost always absent in this country. Foreign Office talk to Transport? I doubt it.
