Just Need some extra drivers to go with the extra trains. Maybe they could get some from Avanti Grin
2  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Chipping Norton railbus withdrawn (again) on: March 05, 2024, 17:13:19
This will also give access to the National Trust Chastleton House and the Rollright Stones from the Cotswold line.

WOP?

(added: Worcestershire Parkway - needs adding to short-code look-up)

Correct its only been open 4 years. Its still not listed under nearest stations on the national rail APP ether.

The Machine at Pershore has now been upgraded to allow purchase of tickets for journeys from other stations.

However I am not sure if I should be posting this in the lighter side.

Can members guess which other local station is missing from the list of stations.
5  Journey by Journey / TransWilts line / Re: Passenger Journeys / flows - West Wiltshire and stations to Swindon on: February 04, 2024, 22:42:12
This may not be based on ticket sales. Just looked at Pershore data. Worcester forgate street and Shrub hill are shown as seperate flows.

Tickets used to be to Worcester stations and are now to Worcester Shrub Hill/Forgate street.

None of these stations have barriers so not based on entrance/exit ether.

The short forms are all down to the withdrawal of the Castle sets & IETs (Intercity Express Train)▸ being transferred westwards to cover.

Also covering the shortage of other DMUs (Diesel Multiple Unit). Last Wednesday one of the Bristol-Worcester workings was being covered by a 5 car IET.

For that reason, we should be enouraging our train operator to retain class 57, 150, 158, 165, 166, 230, 387, 800, 802, and Castle, and perhaps looking to add representatives from classes such as 139, 153, 156, 159, 168, 180 and 801, with others coming on board too as they are manufactured.

However you will also need lots of different ramps.

This lot are at Worcester Shrub Hill and cover all current West Midland and GWR (Great Western Railway) units.
11  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Worcestershire Parkway Station project - ongoing discussion on: November 27, 2023, 20:46:45
I can confirm that the updated announcements with the female voice are now in use on IETs (Intercity Express Train).

The station announcements at Pershore however stiil say WOP.

A couple of other things I have spotted:

The Station location GPS data seems to be missing from the database used by the National rail enquiries APP. I tried to look up trains at Worcestershire parkway while stood on the station using the nearest stations tab and Parkway was not listed.

I was at Newport recently awaiting the arrival of a Nottingham service. The English language automated station announcement included Worcestershire Parkway. However the Welsh language announcement missed it out entirely not even WOP It jumped straight from Ashcurch for Tewkesbury to University (all in English I should add).

According to the Daily Mirror South West Railway have taken over the St Ives branch.

The St Ives to St Erth South West Trains route is one of the most beautiful in the country, trundling past a number of sandy beaches and rideable for the low price of just £3

And the photo seems to claim Long Rock Depot is on the Branch.

14  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture in the United Kingdom / Re: WiFi on trains - vital to customers, or just a "nice to have"? on: June 27, 2023, 22:41:00
Do not forget that some trains especialy Voyagers on cross country and Meridians on East Midland have mesh in the windows to block mobile signal.

Also slightly off topic but at Birmingham new street the mobile networks are so overloaded that a full strength 5G signal gives almost no data. The station free wifi is no better so slow that the data use agreement does not load.
