Can we keep the HST▸ to Hereford please.
No you can't, such is progress. There are those of us who are really fond of our current trains - be they class 125 or class 153. However, if we campaigned to keep them and won would rapidly find our love for them drowned by people complaining about old trains on their line ... to say nothing of increasing maintenance costs and failures over the years ahead, and a real problem is we'd refused an upgrade on the back of a bigger order and wanted a special build later.

It is currently in Europe - as indeed Taunton and Melksham currently are, but we had better not go there. The scene pictured is currently under British jurisdiction.
Was it on the Ferry? Yep - the Stena Hollandica, which as I wrote was just pulling out of Harwich

Missed the show but get the drift.
I was sitting in Flensberg station for two ****ing hours because the (always on time?) German train was 10 minutes late, and the connection on into Denmark only allowed four - which goes to prove that we don't have a monopoly of problems in the UK▸ .
Oh and of course the staffed information and ticket area that had locked the door just at the time the train to Denmark left (still people inside being served, but no help for the new arrivals!) and the station Bistro which did a stonking trade for the first hour of the wait then chucked all its customers out because they (staff) had to go home.
Still on the train ... started from Hoek at 08:26, now into destination at 01:04. Perhaps I should have flown!
I started reading your post and thought to myself 'perhaps easy jet from Bristol to Copenhagen might've been an awful lot easier', especially considering your other thread regarding the mysterious station of 0650! I'm flying back ... 'twas always the plan. But different airline and airports to the ones you suggest. Good reasons for doing it each way ... will follow up during the week but my final train's just making its way into the place I'm staying (not Copenhagen; that's like assuming everyone who comes to England is coming to London!). Current problem is a dusting of snow on the lines which needs a leaf-fall timetable, I think. Very gentle starts. But excellent power and WiFi on this Danish train.

Yes, that is a rather unfortunate position for the fixing of that bracket - although I bet the fitter had a quiet snigger while he was drilling the holes for it ... Apart from that: it's in Europe - it's not Taunton, and not Melksham. It is currently in Europe - as indeed Taunton and Melksham currently are, but we had better not go there. Looks like high quality coaches too.
Undoubtedly so ... but still the most enormous reminder that trains are far smoother and quicker. Almost impossible to type / work ... resorted to sleeping and catching up with what I had to do on the ship!

Journey by Journey / TransWilts line / Report for Melksham Area Board

An update for the Melksham Area Board of Wiltshire Council who are to meet Thursday of next week. As they're the councillors for Melksham, meeting in public and attended by the interested citizens of Melksham, the report is kinda biased towards that station. Also on the agenda is a presentation looking ahead at the station; with every expectation of continued growth in passenger numbers - though not quite doubling every year from here on - a single carriage platform behind a gate on the industrial estate will struggle to provide the capacity needed, and may give the wrong impression of the town to new arrivals. So ot doesn't go onto Harwich then, but just to the port.
Do you know how far short of Harwich that is? Not a cheap taxi
There is a local train running (if anyone needs it) ... half an hour after the scheduled bus arrival to Dovercourt and Harwich Town - a couple of miles. Definitely a BOAT train replacement, this one. Skips little hamlets like Chelmesford and Colchester along the way!

That direct bus is is RTT» , and in GA▸ 's timetable here. So why are you only "fairly convinced" in its existence? Whether you believe the timing for its arrival is another question. Because two separate official channels for my enquiry told me "no trains ... and sent me via Newbury Park and Witham (or 0650 and Whitham if you prefer), and one of the sources that DID» give me the bus / coach was also clearly faulty in that it gave me an 18:59 arrival into Waterloo to connect with the bus/coach at 19:32, which I also think is flawed. I'm sure enough to be convinced that the 19:32 exists, with a fallback to being able to make merry hell if it didn't. . In contrast, I'm rock sure that the 23:00 boat from Harwich to Hook of Holland does exist and won't be replaced by a bus service between the two places.

Not really counting (seeing someone off at Melksham Station) but was that really 12 off and 9 on on the 14:40ish to Westbury yesterday? In contrast, as I walked back through town there were a couple of sadly empty buses. That's not the full story, of course ... there could have been a huge crowd waiting for each of those buses at the next stop!
