Aceytlene gas cylinders, which contain oxygen...

That's a distinctly odd   statement - did you copy it from somewhere?

Paul

Caught out - courtesy of Newbury Today. I was on Arlington Business Park today by chance - but just outside the cordon. It didn't half cause some traffic congestion.

Have seen trains going through so must be partially resolved.

The railway line near to Unit two at Kennet View Business Park in Arrowhead Road, Theale, where the fire has broken out, has  been closed, as a 200 metre safety cordon has been thrown around the zone.
Aceytlene gas cylinders, which contain oxygen used for welding, have caught fire, and with explosive materials present, the firefighters, gathered from four forces, cannot approach the blaze in case of an explosion.

That makes sense. Am actually trying to get Plymouth - Newbury on Sundays

Can't understand why the FGW (First Great Western) website insists on sending me on the rail relief bus service (other than its a bit quicker) rather than letting me catch the 2.15 from Plymouth (via Honiton) and change on to the Taunton Newbury service at Castle Cary (as its a scheduled stop for both services). Whatever I try to do it - it doesn't allow me to pull it up as a connection.

Trying to get my head around whats happening weekends end of Feb and during March.  FGW (First Great Western) timetable is suggesting rail relief buses but there seems to be the odd through train that doesn't require getting on a bus.

For example 19th March catch the 15.32 from Reading to Plymouth and you need to take a bus from Taunton to Tiverton but catch the 12.32 from Reading and it seems to be direct to Plymouth.

Is this a mistake on the timetable or can one with a careful train choice avoid the bus.

FGW (First Great Western) did a grand job yesterday 10.00 Westbury Exeter was just 20 minutes late at Exeter.

Good Luck Jim, I am going to risk the same Paddington Exeter - have just noticed no catering on this service.
26  Sideshoots - associated subjects / The Lighter Side / Most Expensive Fare on: December 17, 2010, 09:46:19
Somewhat concerned at the first class fare offered whilst trying to get from Brentwood to lakeside by train (many thanks to Graham for explaining how to post jpgs).
27  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Rolling Stock on Lorries on: December 17, 2010, 09:31:18
Driving along the M4 the night before last the weather was not good, the drizzly snow making visability very poor. I found myself following a lorry thinking how much in the limited visability the back of a lorry looked like a HST (High Speed Train) power car. Finally overtaking the lorry I realised it was 43198 heading west.

Over the last couple of years I've seen Mk 3 coaches occasionally and an 08 Shunter (and even a Terrier loco).

Just interested to know is it cheaper ?? Are there circumstances where a loco/coach can't be taken by rail Huh Has anyone else seen anything else more interesting travelling by road Huh
28  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: Night Riviera sleeper service - Cornwall to London on: December 11, 2010, 11:04:01
Does that link into why the sleeper was going through Theale at 16.00hrs on Thursday heading West Huh Wondered what was going on.
29  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Superbreaks - are they the only rail and hotel package company in the UK ?? on: December 08, 2010, 22:42:14
I have been very happily using superbreaks to get much cheaper rail and hotel arrangements for travel in the FGW (First Great Western) area. The deals are really good with rail tickets being often  50% of the lowest standard class applicable fare and a discount on the hotel room too. For example Newbury - Plymouth is ^30 when booked through Superbreaks with a hotel vs ^63.70 Super Off Peak Return.

Where they fall down is late bookings as they seem only to operate the inclusive rail tickets until about 4-5 days prior to departure presumably to allow tickets to arrive by post.

Does anyone know of any other companies offering this sort of inclusive rail and hotel package as I want to find one that lets me do late bookings Huh

12 is Baker Street - I think Huh
