108  Journey by Journey / Portsmouth to Cardiff / Re: Seat Tables Class 158s on: October 13, 2011, 10:26:47
some of the 158s were fitted with drop-down tables at refresh in '07/'08, while others were not (the units fitted with richmond seating all have drop-downs and some, but not all of the others also do). The original plan was to reto-fit the tables to the remaining vechicles, but this has never happened. When the 2-car units were spit up and 3-car hybrids created, they ended up with a mixture of some vehicles with drop-downs and some without. there does not appear to have been any effort made to add tables to the remaining vehicles.

it is indeed.
111  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Can you collect tickets purchased on-line on the train on: September 02, 2011, 10:07:07
short answer - no!

the avantix machines used by the TMs(resolve) are not capable of interrogating the database and issuing tickets purchased online. star terminals at stations can.

It also looks like they are installing a TVM (Ticket Vending Machine) on the platform too, just past the station building, again on 2.

that's the control box for the CIS (Customer Information System) equipment...

First Great Western's decision to cash in on land at Bath Spa station has, according to critics, made life almost impossible for those who are confined to a wheelchair.

And how can it be FGW (First Great Western)'s decision to 'cash in on land' when it's not FGW's land to cash in on in the first place.

Health and Safety is a subject that often crops up on this site - many folk get quite annoyed when a new bit of 'elf and safety legislation' comes along and prevents them from doing something. Well it seems you have an unlikely ally in the form of the Health and Safety Executive, who are seemingly fed up with being blamed every time an organisation makes an unpopular decision:

Just wondering if anybody has had any sightings yet of 150108 and 150126 in service ?

both are currently at the marsh.

Thanks for your updates. I note that there is no planned installation of full train information boards at Worle from a few posts ago, can anyone explain why? Is it actually a local authority funding issue, or is it just deemed unnecessary given the comparatively fewer passengers when compared with Yatton/Nailsea/WsM?

The current Customer Information project has involved the relacement of old eqipment with new. Worle never had a CIS (Customer Information System) system in the first place, so there has been nothing to replace. Local authority funding does not come into it.

The earlier Help Point project did however involve local authority funding - if they stumped up the cash the help point would have been upgraded to the type with an embedding WebCIS screen. Worle got the middle option - 3rd button with automated train info. Milton got the WebCIS. Don't know the whys or wherefores, but I'm sure there's a logic to it.
119  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: New Customer Information Systems on: July 07, 2011, 14:44:55
Does anyone know a timescale for Worle to gain it's new spangdangled TIDs?

Then again the prospect of a smash up by the local yoof might make it a non-priority.

Worle is not due any CIS (Customer Information System) or PA (Public Address). Hence the 3-button help-points with automated info instead. The only upgrade as part of this project was the new CCTV (Closed Circuit Tele Vision), which is now complete.

Does anyone have any news on the installation of the new CIS (Customer Information System) and PA (Public Address) at Exeter Central?

due to be completed this month
