391  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: Changes to bus services – Bath to Melksham and Melksham area on: February 03, 2020, 11:23:21
I hope to attend if I get away from Bath early enough (court duties that day).  I assume that we park on street.
392  Sideshoots - associated subjects / The West - but NOT trains in the West / Re: Your home town as others really (really?) see it. on: February 01, 2020, 19:18:11
A few inaccuracies in that regarding the train service and the status of the A350 (not a trunk road). I am not an expert on the pubs and eating places so cannot comment on those. In my view Melsham is not as black as it's painted

It makes you wonder how long the current situation on the Frome services will last. This will now be the only route where First and Faresaver go head to head

I see they propose to bring in additional electric trains from elsewhere to increase capacity. 365s anyone?

I will not be able to attend this as I shall be on the Isle of Mull that day as part of my Scottish weekend trip
398  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: IETs into passenger service from 16 Oct 2017 and subsequent performance issues on: January 27, 2020, 15:41:44
Not just short forms today but also cancellations on the Bristol line.  When I arrived at Bath this morning I noticed that both the 0913 and 1013 departures to Paddington were showing as cancelled together with the 0924 to Bristol (0802 from Paddington).

According to RTT» (Real Time Trains - website) the 0913 from Bath ran but was diverted from Bristol to run via Badminton - so still a cancellation at Bath and Chippenham
399  Journey by Journey / Transport for London / Re: Stanmore to Charing Cross - direct. on: January 26, 2020, 19:45:47

400  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Worcestershire Parkway Station project - ongoing discussion on: January 26, 2020, 09:37:25
A large number of entries in journey check today to address this of which this is an example.
26/01/20 08:37 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 11:25 will no longer call at Worcestershire Parkway Hl.
This is due to a train not stopping at a station it was supposed to.

I love the reason given.
401  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: IETs into passenger service from 16 Oct 2017 and subsequent performance issues on: January 26, 2020, 09:35:19
If journey check is to be believed, there are a number of short forms running today, particularly Bristol and the W.o.E.
402  Journey by Journey / South Western services / Re: Planned Industrial Action on: January 23, 2020, 16:28:00
It is interesting to note that just less than half of those entitled to vote actually voted to strike with slightly more in favour of action short of strike.  It almost suggests that those not in favour didn't bother to vote.  I am sure that Boris will use this should he propose any new anti-union legislation.
403  All across the Great Western territory / Buses and other ways to travel / Re: Bridport, Beaminster and Crewkerne bus service - withdrawn from 1st May?? on: January 19, 2020, 17:56:03
AIUI (as I understand it) 6A is a school service running serving Beaminster school. 6 is the M -F daytime commercial service running between Bridport hospital and Beaminster/Crewkerne operated jointly by First Wessex and Busses of Somerset.  CB3 is a Saturday service operated by Beaminster Town Council using the local community bus.

08:35 Westbury to Swindon due 09:24
08:35 Westbury to Swindon due 09:24 has been delayed between Trowbridge and Melksham and is now 12 minutes late.
This is due to a late running freight train.

Delayed by a Westbury to Bescot engineering train which left 15 minutes late.  Also delayed the following Westbury to Gloucester service which was held at Trowbridge until the Swindon service had left Bradford Junction
405  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture Overseas / Re: Amtrak Asks Two People Who Use Wheelchairs To Pay $25,000 For A Ride on: January 18, 2020, 11:44:22
Bad as that is, I wonder what the response would have been in this country as few, if any, trains have space for 5 wheelchairs
