I think it was only the HSR track that was new - that train had just left the new track for the old....
9122  Journey by Journey / London to Reading / Re: One less HST stopping at Maidenhead from August 10th - pm? on: July 26, 2013, 11:09:07
It probably will be nearer the 10th....prob next week, I'd say.

Major works (redoubling the South Cotswolds) means some disruption, and whatever anyone says, August IS the quietest month for travel. Commuters know where their train goes, and those on here can't have missed us talking about these works. If you really needed more than 10 days notice, you could have put 2 and 2 together & checked the FGW (First Great Western) website. That timetable has been around a while, showing thattrain missing.

And on policing it too, I guess! :-)

Yep, that's the way I see it too.

Don't know who has noticed, but they've started printing the two-character fare code on tickets now...

I think it does show that the TOCS have worked at sorting the Spring 2012 services out. In the Henley case moving pax around their services it seems. But the Oxford services don't feature now.

I think Henley can only be sorted by providing an extra service. More suitable stock is the only way to sort, so probably remaining a problem until Crossrail / electrification starts.

eeuuww......looks as though the rake of coaches separated and derailed as the lead power car tried to go round the curve. Only some way round did the G forces see to the power car, by which time the leading coach had collided with the wall

Speed def the issue.

I can't believe they've started (now finished?) removing the broken train....the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) held Hatfield train for 3 weeks while the investigation took place....

9133  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Changes to cycle policy - 3/4 Aug 13 on: July 24, 2013, 11:31:42
As these mods would cost a lot of money, and the TOCs (Train Operating Company) can't see a way of recouping these funds, I think it ain't happening any time soon....
9134  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Mixing Desk on: July 24, 2013, 11:26:21
If you don't see a fare immediately that you think you might pay, it's unlikely you'll scroll around to see if there's a cheaper one. That's psychology.....leave cheapest -> most expensive alone....
9135  Sideshoots - associated subjects / Campaigns for new and improved services / Re: Carmarthen and Aberystwyth on: July 24, 2013, 11:08:23
Slightly better than that as it would be the Welsh Government funding it - and they've more money than the UK (United Kingdom) equivalent. Still slim though, I agree
