Already 42 short formations for today on JournetCheck and its not yet 04:30am.

Is that short formations or formation changes?

Many of the longer distance service changes are 9 rather than 10 which don't really make much difference from a capacity point of view. The 9 car units appear to have been switched from the shorter Oxford services.

Given that Earley station is in Woodley, should Earley be in the list of towns instead as it's population is only slightly smaller and has no other station?

I see what you mean.

Earley Town council don't seem to include this on the map on their website.

Woodley? Woodley is only a town for political reasons, it is clearly a Reading suburb. If it was within the borough boundary it wouldn't be on this list. It has railways on two sides of it and Earley station is close enough to it's 'town centre' (shopping precinct) to count it being on the rail network.

Indeed - I think that Earley Station actually lies in the civil parish of Woodley!

I believe that the boundary between Woodley and Earley runs between the A3290 and the railway from Church Road and Loddon Bridge Road, which will put the station in Earley.

Five now six short forms on Journey Check today
06:42 Hereford to London Paddington due 09:47
06:47 Penzance to London Paddington due 12:21
06:59 Swansea to London Paddington due 09:55
07:00 London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads due 08:48
07:48 Paignton to London Paddington due 11:39
07:59 Swansea to London Paddington due 11:00

But none of the later services that are formed off these from Paddington are short formed currently. Are these the result of yesterdays changes leaving the 9 car units in the wrong place to the start of service today.

I took a slight detour when walking around Green Park yesterday to look at the site of the Green Park station from the Kirtons Farm Road bridge to see if there has been any developments.

The answer is yes and no.

Yes, the ground work for the access road, parking, drop-off point etc. coming along.
No, nothing that will enable trains to stop.

I took some pictures and will try to share them tomorrow

The pictures I took didn't come out to well so I went back this weekend to have another try.

The 3 views from Kirtons Farm Lane bridge are below, all looking north towards Reading.
