Ginsters. The suggestion is highly offensive.

Wow.  My apologies.  I was merely looking to reference a Cornish product.  Shocked

Haha. Never reference a Ginsters to a Cornishman. Wrong pastry type, wrong filling.
Philps at Hayle is probably one of the best if your ever down this way.

Too much of a schlep to Portreath Bakery. Tribute is a good call.

I have ridden the route only once, and very enjoyable it was. I would hope to see a full service resume - there is demand for it.

There are delays tonight for services coming from Taunton. Bristol Post reports that a man was hit by a train, suffering serious leg injuries.

Man rushed to Southmead Hospital after hit by train on Bristol to Taunton line

A man has been rushed to Southmead Hospital with serious leg injuries after being hit by a train between Taunton and Bristol Temple Meads.

Paramedics from South Western Ambulance Services rushed to Bridgewater Station after being called at 9:08pm.

The man was then rushed to Southmead Hospital after being given pain relief at the scene.

A critical care team from Great Western Air Ambulance also assisted.

Train passengers face delays of up to 60 minutes following the incident

Network Rail said it expected the disruption to continue until the end of the day.

I hope it ends as well as possible for the gentleman concerned.

I must let the reporter know the correct spelling of "Bridgwater".

Definitely said ethanol! I am now up to date with the two episodes - nothing we didn't know before, but very enjoyable.

Interesting that deep-fat fryers don't appear on the list: one would imagine them to be a frequent culprit.

A fireman friend held the view some years ago that it may be cost effective to hand out basic electric deep fat fryers free in exchange for the chip pan. A significant number of fires he dealt with at weekends were those where the man of the house, returning from the pub, decided to make some chips for supper, and fell asleep whilst waiting for them to cook. The electric deep fryer is more solution than problem. Such fires are almost unheard of these days, which may also be down to the ubiquity of fast food outlets.

I shall use a dishwasher to dry my clothes henceforth.

I came home from Norwich on Thursday. On the service PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains)-BRI» (Bristol Temple Meads - next trains), a numpty left a pushchair fully assembled and full of all his and his family's luggage, against the off-side door of the carriage, presumably thinking that would not get in the way as it was opposite the open door at PAD. Of course, it wasn't at Reading, leading to consternation for boarding travellers and embarrassment for our man, who merely moved it across to the other door. He was torn off a strip by the TM(resolve) within a few moments of leaving the station.

The most frequently encountered problem is that of the unemptied fluff filter. Add to that the drier stopping before the last few minutes of the programme, which actually cools it down, and you have some explanation as to why fires do seem to occur in tumble driers with some regularity. Properly maintained and used, they are perfectly safe, but not everyone reads the instruction manual from cover to cover.

It happened to the late Sir Terry Wogan, as this (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page)-presenter-Terry-Wogan.html" target="_blank">Telegraph article explains.

Which  I did, meaning that I saw the very good programme before reading your by then redundant advice

The flippancy of your remarks suggests to me that you really do not understand the technical aspects of continuous welded rail.

Sorry Sir.

Representing Blackpool N etc one presumes he likes trams, and values 319's over Pacers.

He was on the Transport Select Committee, 2010 - 2012 and was born in Crewe!

Oxford 1st though.

OTC

I have just returned from Cleveleys, bringing with me my mother, the elder Mrs FT, N!. Heady times are afoot, with the extension of the tram system inland to Blackpool North. It is a good time to be a minister in charge of rail things, and also to be the MP (Member of Parliament) for Blackpool North and Cleveleys! If you are unfamiliar with the modern trams, here is one:

and this is Cleveleys:

and a link to a discussion forum on the whole thing. It contains a photo of my late, much lamented, dog:
